"I believe the children our are future, teach them well and let them lead the way" --Whitney Houston
As a child I always had a knack for knowledge. I was very inquisitive always asking my mother questions, why this and why that. I was on a conquest for a deeper understanding and a deeper knowledge of the things of life. I would sit around the grown folks table as a child, and just listen to their stories, smart enough not to butt into grown folks business, I would just listen and ponder in my mind different questions of the stories that they told. This led to an incredible imagination on my end as well as an old soul.
As I listened to Min. Shakina Dunbar on Saturday, charge the students to seek knowledge and the importance of a good education, it became evident to me, that times have changed. We no longer have a generation that seeks knowledge, but a generation whose learning ability has been handicapped. We've become the microwave generation wanting everything at the snap of our fingers. Technology has hindered our work ethic by making everything so easily accessible to us. Video games have disabled our imaginations because we've become a generation of visual reality. Hosea 4:6 reminds us that "My people are destroyed because of a lack of knowledge, because you have rejected knowledge".
This scripture has become our reality. This generation is being destroyed daily because of their lack of knowledge. Our school systems our failing, our drop out rates increase, and our prisons are being overcrowded with uneducated males. We have become slaves to a poverty mindset and have deceived ourselves that we can not do better as a people. As our children return back to school it is important that we motivate and inspire them to seek knowledge. To learn all they can learn, but not just in regards to education, but knowledge of the scriptures. We must educate them that they can do all things through Christ, which strengthens them Philippians 4:13. We must instill in them godly principles and the benefit of integrity and character.
So as we prepare this next generation to be future leaders of the world, Presidents, CEO's, Lawyers, Doctors, and Engineers let's help them to aspire to inspire because God + Education is the only formula for real success.
